About The League

City of Angels Little League: A New Chapter in Los Angeles-Area Youth Baseball

City of Angels Little League (CALL) is a relatively new Little League, chartered in the fall of 2001. CALL serves girls and boys, between the ages of 5-14, residing within CALL’s boundaries: South of Hollywood Boulevard; North of the 10 Freeway; East of La Brea Avenue; and West of Vermont. CALL’s President, Mrs. Lili Bernard Ferguson, founded the league in the fall of 2001 when she discovered that there was no Little League in the mid-Wilshire/Hancock Park/Larchmont area. Mrs. Ferguson had fond memories of playing Little League while growing up in New Jersey, and wanted to provide the same opportunity for her children. Mrs. Ferguson contacted Little League headquarters in Williamsport, PA and satisfied the criteria necessary to establish a charter.

City of Angels Little League has enjoyed tremendous success during its brief history. Both child participation and volunteer enrollment has increased, and the league is working closely with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to build its first home fields, on the campus of Arlington Heights Elementary School.

Competitively, the Major Division (11-12 years old) team won the District 25 Tournament of Champions in June of 2004 and in June of 2005. Our Minor Division (9-10 years old) team won District 25 Tournament of Champions titles in 2006 and 2007. Also in 2007, the Junior All-Stars brought home Distric tand Sectional titles! In 2009, the 11-12 year old all-starts captured the District 25 Championship The future looks bright!

During the Spring 2009 season, CALL fielded two (2) Junior Division (13-14 years old), two Major Division (10-12 years old), two Minor Division (8-11 years old), one Rookie (7-10 year old) and four Tee-Ball Division (5-8 years old) baseball teams. Both girls and boys are welcome to play on any of these baseball teams. CALL also co-chartered with Beverly Hills Little League, at the Minor Division (9-11 years old) and Junior Division (13-14 year olds).

Spring 2009 practices were held at West Adams Prepatory High School (Washington and Vermont), Rancho Cienega Park (La Brea and Rodeo )and 3rd Street Elementary School (3rd and June). For the Spring of2010, we have added Seoul International Park (Olympic and Normandie).
